Why the name

You can fake a picture, and you can fake a name. A timbre is harder: it is the exact shade of a sound — the part no filter can add and no copy can borrow. A struck fork rings true or it does not, and every listener can tell the difference.

Timbre applies the same law to money: no scarce early share, no secret allocation, no early window. Every coin is produced by mining, the supply is fixed and public, and the network earns its sound the slow, honest way — audibly, in the open ledger.

No premine

The team mines under the same conditions as everyone else. Nothing was created before the network existed.

No ICO

No tokens were sold, reserved or auctioned. There was never a price to pay for early access.

Open source

All code is published on GitHub under the MIT license and is open to inspection and contribution.

The score

The reward halves every 800,000 blocks and the final era is paid out in full, giving a hard cap of exactly 23,250,000 TMB.

Mining in practice

  1. Get the wallet and generate an address.
  2. Download a RandomX miner that supports the Timbre seed and point it at a pool. The pool list will be announced on this website as the network grows.
  3. Verify blocks, rewards and the supply schedule directly on the block explorer — no third party required.

Ordinary desktop CPUs are the target hardware. RandomX is memory-hard, so GPUs and ASICs have no meaningful advantage — the barrier to entry stays low on purpose.

Network status: the consensus layer is under active development. This page publishes only what is released — nothing is advertised before it exists.
